Sending bulk WhatsApp messages without getting banned: a practical guide
Why bulk sending gets numbers closed, and how to send WhatsApp campaigns to thousands of customers the official way without a ban.
Why bulk sending gets numbers closed
Most people try bulk sending with tools that drive WhatsApp Web automatically. WhatsApp spots the pattern quickly: hundreds of similar messages in minutes, to unsaved numbers, from a number with no history — and the result is a ban.
The answer is not a "smarter" tool that dodges detection. It is sending through the route WhatsApp built for bulk messaging: the WhatsApp Business API.
Rule one: Meta-approved templates
On the API, any message you start (without the customer writing to you in the last 24 hours) must be a Meta-approved template: fixed text with variables such as the customer name or order number, reviewed before you can use it.
Templates come in three categories: marketing (offers, discounts), utility (order confirmations, shipping updates) and authentication (OTP codes). Categorise yours correctly — Meta recategorises a wrong one, and marketing costs more.
Rule two: message people who agreed
The biggest cause of restrictions, even on the official route, is blocks and reports. When you message people who did not ask, they block or report you, and your number's quality rating drops.
- Get consent at purchase or sign-up ("I want offers on WhatsApp").
- Do not buy number lists. It is the fastest way to lose a number.
- Give every marketing message a clear way to stop, and respect it.
Understand the quality rating and messaging limits
Meta gives every number a quality rating (green, yellow, red) based on how customers react to your messages. Each number also has a limit on how many new customers you can start conversations with in 24 hours: it starts small on a new number and grows as you send steadily and quality stays good.
In FASLA CLOUD you see the quality rating and the messaging limit of every number, so you plan a campaign to what the number can take.
If the rating turns yellow, slow down marketing campaigns and review the content and audience before it reaches red.
Practical tips for a successful campaign
- Start with your most engaged customers, then widen.
- Make it personal: the customer's name and something relevant to them.
- Send at sensible times, not late at night.
- Spread large campaigns over batches instead of all at once — FASLA CLOUD does this from the server.
- Read the delivery and read reports and learn from each campaign.
- Reply quickly to people who answer — replies inside the 24-hour window need no template.
What a campaign costs
Meta charges every delivered template message by category and the customer's country — and marketing costs much more than utility. Work out a campaign's cost before sending with the WhatsApp pricing calculator, which has a page for every Arab country.
