Moving from an unofficial WhatsApp tool to the official WhatsApp Business API

Was your number banned, or are you worried it will be, on an unofficial sender? A step-by-step plan to move to the official API without losing customers.

Why move now, not after a ban

Unofficial tools work until they suddenly do not: the number is banned mid-campaign, and you lose customer conversations, your list and your credibility in one day. Moving while you are still running is far easier than starting from zero after a ban.

Step 1: stop the unofficial tool

First, stop all automated sending from the old tool and disconnect any QR link on the number. Continuing automated sending while you move puts the number at risk.

Step 2: take a copy of your contacts

  • Export your customer list from the old tool to a sheet (name and number).
  • Keep customers who actually dealt with you or agreed to hear from you — drop bought or stale numbers.
  • Upload the sheet to FASLA CLOUD through contact import (CSV or Excel), with tags if you want to segment them.

Step 3: connect the number the official way

Through Meta’s official Embedded Signup inside the platform: business portfolio, WhatsApp Business account, display name and number verification. If the old tool got the number banned, start with a new number on the API.

Step 4: turn your messages into approved templates

The messages you used to send with the old tool must become Meta-approved templates. Categorise each correctly: confirmations and updates are utility, offers are marketing.

Step 5: ramp up sending gradually

  • A new number on the API starts with a small messaging limit that grows as you send steadily with good quality.
  • Start with your most engaged customers and useful messages (confirmations, updates).
  • Split large campaigns into batches.
  • Check the number’s quality rating after each campaign.

The first two weeks matter most: quality during them decides how fast your limits grow.

What you gain after moving

  • No bans caused by the tool.
  • A whole team on one number instead of one phone.
  • Delivery and read reports for every campaign.
  • A stable connection, with no QR link dropping.
