WhatsApp for online stores: confirming orders and cutting returns

How stores use WhatsApp to confirm cash-on-delivery orders and reduce returns: the templates, how to send them, and handling the replies.

The cash-on-delivery problem

In Egypt a large share of online orders are cash on delivery, and some come back: the customer changed their mind, the address was wrong, or nobody answered the courier. Every return costs shipping both ways.

Confirming the order on WhatsApp before shipping is one of the simplest ways to reduce that — customers answer WhatsApp faster than calls.

Templates: utility, not marketing

Order confirmations and shipping updates concern an existing transaction, so they are utility — far cheaper than marketing. In Egypt a utility message is only about $0.0036.

Order confirmation
"Hi {name}, we received your order and will ship it within two days. Reply "OK" to confirm, or tell us if you want to change the address or cancel."
Out for delivery
"Hi {name}, your order is out with the courier and arrives today."
After delivery
"Did your order arrive? If anything is wrong, reply here."

How to send confirmations

  • Export the day’s order customers from your store to a sheet (name and mobile number).
  • Upload the sheet to FASLA CLOUD as a campaign audience.
  • Pick the approved confirmation template and send — each customer gets it with their name.
  • Follow the campaign’s delivery and read report.

If you want each message to carry the order number, amount and address automatically from your store, that needs a direct store integration — talk to us about what fits your store.

Handling replies in the inbox

Replies arrive in the shared inbox, and your team answers from any device: confirm, fix an address, or cancel before shipping. Replying inside the 24-hour window needs no template.

An order cancelled before shipping costs far less than one returned after.

Other ways a store uses WhatsApp

  • Answering product and size questions before purchase.
  • A bot with buttons: "Products", "My order", "Talk to someone".
  • Offer campaigns to past customers who agreed to receive offers.
  • Following up leads from Click-to-WhatsApp ads.
